Submission

The Leader of all leaders taught, “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant” (Matthew 23:11). One of the most important attributes of a godly leader is a spirit of submission and humility. The Apostle Paul said, “I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some” (I Corinthians 9:22).
To be a successful leader a person must be a faithful follower. In I Corinthians 11:1 Paul wrote, “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.” Not only are we to be submissive to Christ, but also to our leaders (those in authority over us), and to one another.
Although leaders must recognize the importance of the position they hold, they must never think more highly of themselves than they ought, always remembering that no flesh can glory in His sight. All glory belongs to God. We are merely His instruments. The Lord Jesus Christ reminded His twelve chosen leaders, “For without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5).
